China Electroplating Network News: Science and Technology Daily News (Lu Chunhua) With the support of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the water treatment engineering team of GE China R&D Center and the National Organic Toxic Pollution Control and Resource Engineering Technology Research Center (NERC) of Nanjing University have successfully completed the wastewater treatment and reuse project. Both parties have successfully developed an integrated technology for deep treatment and reuse of wastewater in the electronic electroplating industry, with a reuse rate of nearly 90%, At the same time, the cost has significantly decreased, and the cost of pure water treatment is lower than the requirements set by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology at the beginning of the project.
This advanced technology takes the wastewater produced by Changzhou Meiou Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. in Jiangsu Province as the treatment object, and conducts research on deep purification of major pollution indicators such as heavy metals, COD, NH3-N, and integrated technology for wastewater reuse. At present, the company has built a demonstration project to treat about 250000 cubic meters of wastewater per year, which has been put into stable operation. The effluent reaches the national electroplating pollutant discharge standard GB21900-2008 and the lower discharge limit of the electroplating industry in the Taihu Lake Lake area, and the recycling rate has increased from 60% -65% to nearly 90%.
The electroplating industry is an important processing industry and an essential means of product processing in many industries such as machinery, electronics, instruments, light industry, aerospace, etc. The quality of electroplating wastewater is complex, involving various heavy metal ions and cyanide, which poses great harm to humans. If these electroplating wastewater does not meet the discharge standards and directly enters the environment, it will inevitably cause widespread and serious harm to the ecological environment and human beings. The electronic electroplating industry is also one of the key industries for controlling heavy metal pollution in Jiangsu Province. The wastewater discharged during its production process poses a serious threat to the ecological environment along the lake. Currently, the electronic electroplating wastewater treatment technology with chemical precipitation, biochemical treatment, and membrane separation technology as the core units still has significant room for improvement.
GE and NERC have launched a strong collaboration, utilizing a groundbreaking optimization combination of GE's membrane technology and NERC's resin adsorption technology, integrating conventional chemical precipitation, oxidation, and biochemical treatment technologies. This breakthrough has enabled the development of high-temperature, low-pressure, and pollution resistant high-energy membrane technologies, as well as membrane concentration deep treatment technologies based on nanocomposite adsorption materials. A complete solution for the deep treatment and reuse of electronic electroplating wastewater has been developed, Simultaneously carrying out engineering applications and demonstrations will provide technical support and application demonstrations for wastewater treatment and reuse in electronic electroplating enterprises, helping them better meet the increasingly strict national standards for wastewater treatment and reuse in the electronic electroplating industry, thereby promoting the sustainable development of the industry.
